Development of biocompostable shoe lasts by valorizing olive pits

The introduction of biopolymers and endogenous biological waste into new value chains for applications with increasingly technical demands fully aligns with the European Union’s 2020 circular economy action plan, which foresees the need to manufacture new products using more sustainable materials.

This project aims to simultaneously valorize endogenous waste, such as olive pits, and introduce biopolymers and their subsequent transformation into bio-compostable household products. At the end of the project, the introduction of bio compostable shoes will also contribute to changing the current paradigm and the general perception of the value of “single-use plastic waste” in the market and will also validate the introduction of biological raw materials. more sustainable, promoting diversification of the origin of raw materials depending on the application and its impact on the life cycle.

The OlivePit project is part of the Sustainable Plastics project led by Logoplaste Innovation LAB under the Mobilizing Agendas (PRR) for Sustainable Plastics.
