Job Title/Position: Principal Technician

 

Generic scientific area: Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Engineering, and other related areas.

 

Specific scientific area: Processing of composite materials, design with composite materials, thermomechanical characterization of composite materials, structural simulation of composite materials.

 

Announcement summary: A competition is open for the recruitment of a Principal Technician with training in the generic areas of Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Engineering, and other related areas, to support the activities of composite materials manufacturing, design, and characterization of composite materials.

PIEP – Polymer Engineering Innovation hereby announces a competition for the recruitment of a Principal Technician, with training in the generic areas of Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Engineering, or other related areas. The Principal Technician will perform work in the area of Advanced Manufacturing-Processes (Composites) applying his technical knowledge to the production of composite components and optimization of respective production processes, thermomechanical characterization of composite materials, process optimization, and design of components with composite materials. The candidate must present technical skills in the following topics:

  • Knowledge of the main manufacturing techniques of continuous fiber composite materials, being valued the experience in the production of thermoplastic composite materials;
  • Knowledge of normative tests for physical and thermomechanical characterization of composite materials;
  • Knowledge of numerical simulation techniques of manufacturing processes of composite materials;
  • Experience in the use of structural simulation techniques, with specialization in the analysis of the mechanical behavior of composite materials;
  • High analytical and innovation capacity;
  • Strong organizational and planning skills;
  • Ease of interpersonal relationships, spirit of initiative, assertiveness, communication skills, and good articulation with different technical and scientific areas;
  • Autonomy, responsibility, and dynamism;
  • Participate in the preparation and elaboration of new projects;
  • Participate in the preparation and elaboration of reports and presentations;
  • Proficiency in the English language (spoken and written).
