PIEP participated in the Inovar & Empreender 2025 exhibition, held on September 17th in the main nave of the University of Minho, Azurém Campus, Guimarães, to showcase the innovations the institution has developed in partnership with industry for society. On display were projects from cross-cutting areas such as aeronautics, footwear, health, automotive, electronics, and packaging.
This was the 3rd Inovar & Empreender Exhibition, organized by the University of Minho School of Engineering (EEUM). The event brought together 40 companies and entities linked to academia, hosted two tributes, and presented successful startups and new projects to investors.
The opening ceremony included an official visit to the booths by a delegation of leaders from academia, municipalities, and industry. The exhibition featured nearly three dozen spin-offs and start-ups, as well as the interfaces of the Computer Graphics Center/ZGDV, the Center for Waste Valorization, the Fibrenamics Institute, PIEP – Polymer Engineering Innovation Hub, and TecMinho, the DTx and Done Lab laboratories, the Startup Braga, Set.Up Guimarães, MadeIn Famalicão, Start Esposende, and StartPoint AAUM incubators, as well as a space showcasing prototypes and innovations from the EEUM, which participates in 18 national projects within the PRR Mobilizing Agendas.
Professors Mário de Araújo and Jaime Ferreira da Silva were honored for their contributions to TecMinho, a university-business interface at UFMG and one of the oldest in the country, which has been exemplary in technology transfer and entrepreneurship. There was also a discussion group called “From idea to successful business”, which brought together those responsible for the start-ups Biosolve4All (biotechnology), SpaceEngineer (aerospace), OmniumAI (bioinformatics) and Wellbeing Warrior (digital economy), allowing the sharing of experiences and interaction with the audience.
