
The T-PRISM project aims to develop an innovative and technically advanced healthcare solution that acts as a passive platform for continuous health monitoring, with a focus on the early detection of cardiovascular, renal, and gastrointestinal abnormalities. Through the integration of physiological and biochemical sensors, computer vision and predictive algorithms, the project aims to create a non-invasive, interoperable and user-centred device capable of adapting to current and future challenges in the healthcare sector.
The centrepiece of the proposal is a smart toilet, named ablute_COMPASS, which combines six sensor technologies — ECG, PPG, impedance, temperature, multi-parameter urine analysis and computer vision for faecal assessment — with artificial intelligence algorithms, enabling the automated collection, integration and interpretation of clinical data in a domestic, clinical or institutional setting. This disruptive approach transforms an everyday, mundane piece of infrastructure into an active digital health hub, with the potential to ease the pressure on healthcare systems and democratise access to preventive monitoring.
