Advanced material and product development solutions in high-performance footwear

The Advancedshoe project explored and developed emerging technological solutions worldwide for the production of high-performance footwear.

The project synergistically framed and enhanced the following technologies in the development of high performance and demanding footwear:

a) New methods and tools to involve the customer/consumer in the footwear design phase, allowing him / her continuous interactions with the designer and producer. These advanced solutions integrate:

• design and technical specifications – design for the function

• tools based on performance and integration of consumer needs and wants

• tools to assist issues related to design and comfort when using the end consumer.

b) Nanomaterials, microelectronic systems, and advanced processes with high properties and functionality

c) Computational tools in product development and optimization.
