The Centre for Innovation in Polymer Engineering (PIEP), a technology and innovation center for the polymer industry, located in Guimarães, in the North of Portugal, is present at K 2025, the most prestigious international trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry, which is running from October 8th to 15th in Düsseldorf, Germany. K is recognized as the leading global event for the sector, bringing together exhibitors, experts, and decision-makers from around the world to discuss the future of the polymer supply chain within the framework of sustainability, digitalization, and the circular economy.
At its exhibition stand, PIEP will present a portfolio of technological advances and innovative solutions focused on sustainability, reinforcing its role in the research and application of greener materials for global industry. The technologies on display aim to transform sectors such as automotive, aeronautics, defense, medical devices, footwear, packaging, and furniture.
Eighteen (18) projects will be highlighted that PIEP considers to be demonstrators of Portuguese innovation and technological advancement, including:
These innovations reflect PIEP’s strategic mission: to accelerate the transition to a more responsible and resilient polymer industry, reducing environmental impact and adding technological value.
“Participating in K 2025 represents a unique window of international recognition for PIEP: we want to demonstrate that Portugal is capable of contributing to major transformations in the polymer sector. We will present solutions that combine performance, lightweighting, and sustainability—from the laboratory to industrial production—and that respond to the global challenge of closing cycles, promoting smart materials, and strengthening the circular economy,” says Bruno Pereira da Silva, Director of Public Affairs and Sustainability at PIEP.
