PIEP was present at ECCM21 – the European Conference on Composite Materials, which took place in Nantes, France, from July 1st to 5th.

The ECCM is the largest and most prestigious European conference on composite materials, with more than 1,000 participating delegates.

PIEP’s participation included three oral presentations, the result of work carried out by PIEP in composite materials.

• Turning waste from the recycling process into more sustainable eco-boards for furniture and packaging (Joana Malheiro);
• Fire-resistant sandwich composite materials for double curvature façade panels (Helena Rocha)
• Understanding fatigue life and Winding Optimization of Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessels using embedded FBG sensors (Paulo Antunes)

The conference is the world’s meeting point for specialists in composite materials, promoting a close link between research institutions, industry, and academia, thus providing an opportunity to share knowledge and establish new contacts, always with the future of composites in mind.
