FOAM@Iberia 2023, 2nd and 3rd of November, Guimarães

FOAM@Iberia 2023, the Iberian meeting of OpenFOAM users (free and open source computer library) will take place at the Vila-Flor Cultural Center, in Guimarães, on the 2nd and 3rd of November.

OpenFOAM is a set of libraries and computational utilities, known for its flexibility and ability to simulate a wide variety of engineering problems, which, as it is open source, allows the development of new functionalities.

In addition to technical presentations, FOAM@Iberia will include courses for users with different profiles: Beginner (for those who have never used OpenFOAM), intermediate, and Advanced.

It will be an excellent opportunity to learn about or develop skills in OpenFOAM, which already has some applications in the plastics industrial sector. For example in this work, developed as part of a master’s thesis at the University of Minho the results of OpenFOAM are compared with Moldex 3D® in the simulation of thermoplastic injection.

At FOAM@Iberia 2023 you will be able to learn about what is being done at the University of Minho with OpenFOAM, and attend guest lectures by professors Hrvoje Jasak, the OpenFOAM creator, and Francisco Chinesta, one of the world’s references in computational simulation and intelligence artificial.

Given the support of numerous sponsors, the cost of registration is relatively low.

This meeting is expected to allow us to leverage the use of OpenFOAM in the plastics industrial sector in Portugal.
