PIEP – the Centre for Innovation in Polymer Engineering – has been recognised by the European Commission as a Key Innovator via the Innovation Radar platform, an initiative that identifies and promotes organisations responsible for developing innovations with high potential for impact and market value, resulting from projects funded by the European Union.
This recognition highlights PIEP’s ability to transform scientific knowledge into innovative technological solutions, reinforcing its position as a leading partner in European research and innovation projects and in technology transfer to industry.
Among the recognised innovations is the “Learning Factory for Bio-based Thermoplastics: Processing and Material Reprocessing”, a demonstration and training facility dedicated to the processing and reprocessing of bio-based thermoplastics. Developed as part of the European VITAL project, this Learning Factory promotes the transfer of knowledge to companies and professionals, accelerating the adoption of more sustainable manufacturing solutions aligned with the principles of the circular economy.
This recognition by Innovation Radar confirms the impact of PIEP’s work in strategic areas such as bio-based materials, advanced manufacturing processes, material circularity, and the digitalisation of industry, helping to address the challenges of the green transition and competitiveness.
