On October 13th, PIEP held an 8-hour training session at its Guimarães facilities dedicated to product design and development, entitled “Product Design – From Problem to Solution.” This training provided participants from various fields with their first exposure to the methodologies applied to the product development process, exploring all stages from problem identification to the design and delivery of a final solution.
This training is structured into two complementary modules:
– From Problem Identification to Ideation – which covered the initial design stages, highlighting the importance of accurately defining requirements early on and fostering awareness of creativity and innovation in product development;
– From Conception to Final Solution – with continued application of the methodologies, focusing on the generation and selection of concepts, as well as their validation through physical models.
Throughout this first edition of the course, participants had the opportunity to develop skills in identifying the different phases of product design, understanding the relevance of initial requirements, and learning key concepts of design, creativity, and innovation that contribute to the success of new product development.
The training was taught in person by Rosária Ferreira, a specialist in Industrial Design, UX/UI, and Design Thinking, and featured collaborations with industrial designers and engineers from the PIEP Team, who contributed their practical experience in product development.
More courses in product design and development, as well as other areas of expertise, can be found on the PIEP Academy website.
