PIEP is at the Lineapelle Fair in Milan, showcasing a new generation of biomimetic soles developed by its researchers in partnership with Atlanta Steps and CTCP – the Portuguese Footwear Technology Center. This event takes place from September 23rd to 25th at the Milano RHO Fair.

Inspired by natural forms—namely the structures of the human heart, spider webs, and octopus suction cups—these innovative soles combine design, functionality, and sustainability, paving the way for the future of casual footwear.

The biomimetic soles developed as part of the BioShoes4All project offer 22% less weight, for greater lightness and everyday comfort, while enabling a 60% increase in energy absorption, better distributing plantar pressure, and protecting against impacts. They are manufactured from more sustainable materials, contributing to a reduction of up to 8% in CO₂ emissions and a 6% reduction in the use of fossil resources.
