Let’s reinvent plastic

Portuguese Pact for Plastics challenges the Portuguese to save the Planet with the “Let’s reinvent plastic” campaign

Let’s Reinvent Plastics ”is the motto of the Portuguese Pact for Plastics campaign, aiming to sensitize Portuguese consumers to use plastic responsibly, to achieve a circular economy of plastics – an economy where it benefits from the advantages of plastic, but without leaving marks on the environment.

The first phase of the “Let’s Reinvent Plastics” campaign focuses on the online format, with a strong presence on social networks and on the website pactoplasticos.pt, where good practices in the use of plastic are found, as well as goals to be reached by 2025 and others useful information.

Innovating to implement solutions for reusing packaging, increasing recycling, and incorporating recycled material into new products, will be some of the steps to be taken to achieve the circular economy.

In this campaign, the Portuguese are invited to reduce, reuse, recycle, redesign, rethink and re-educate (the six R’s of a life without waste), so that the relationship with plastic does not harm the Planet.

Portuguese Pact for Plastics

The Portuguese Pact for Plastics (PPP), of which the PIEP – Innovation in Polymer Engineering – is part, brings together more than 80 entities, including brands, producers, retailers, recyclers, waste management entities, Government, municipalities, universities and non-governmental organizations.

The objective of the PPP is to accelerate the transition to a circular economy for plastics, with the partners of this initiative having implemented several actions in the field in this regard.

Led by the Smart Waste Portugal Association and with the support of the Portuguese Government, the PPP belongs to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Global Plastics Pact network, which brings together similar initiatives from various geographies, to share experiences, knowledge and good practices, placing Portugal in the group of countries that intend to lead this transition.
